JOB TITLE: Field Service Technician - Compressors

DESCRIPTION: The basic function of this position will include but is not limited to machine repair and maintenance with an emphasis on quality assurance and overall work standards on the repair floor and at customer sites. This position will also be responsible for disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and testing of compressors or other industrial rotating equipment at a bench or at a customer site.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications of the Field Service Technician - Compressors include, but are not limited to:


  • Expert understanding of maintenance and operations of compressors, air treatment equipment, and compressor room operations
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and other mechanical drawings or hydraulic schematics
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics or diagrams
  • Use of precision measuring instruments
  • Able to communicate effectively and complete paperwork to standards
  • High enthusiasm, energy, and initiative
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Quality conscious and interested in improvement techniques and teamwork.
  • Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Preferred: Associates degree, Technical school, or previous experience with rotating equipment
  • Minimum 2-5 years direct experience in working as a mechanic or millwright or equivalent time in a technical school
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, driving check, and drug test


  • Travel to customer job sites to troubleshoot and maintain customer-owned equipment
  • Troubleshoot and inspect compressors, air treatment equipment, control systems, and other industrial rotating equipment
  • Perform maintenance including replacement of consumables and parts on compressors and rotating equipment
  • Communicate with customer about condition of equipment and systems
  • Recommend and document additional repairs or services to improve equipment operation
  • Follow all quality assurance and documentation policies
  • Facilitate prompt remedy of customer technical problems, complaints, and failures

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for two thirds or more of time. They may also be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time while completing other duties and responsibilities
  • The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands and fingers to handle, feel and operate objects such as machines and computer equipment
  • The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed is also required
  • The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to chest height


  • This position will be primarily working indoors on the shop floor in varied temperature conditions
  • Noise level will vary from moderate conditions to extreme and ear plugs should be worn
  • Odors and air quality may vary and may be unpleasant to some individuals
  • Work done at customer sites can vary from indoor to outdoor in varied temperature conditions
  • Safety glasses and shoes are required in all areas on the shop floor
  • A normal workday is Monday - Friday 7:00-5:00PM. Overtime may be required based upon workloads and personnel requirements
